China remains for several years the world’s second largest cosmetics consumer market only behind the United States, and continues to grow steadily, with retail sales rising by 4.2 percent on average every year. By the end of 2018 the market value was estimated at USD $ 40.3 billion. Stimulated by urbanization, people’s higher income and maturing consumer education, the cosmetics market size is expected to keep it’s growth, and reach 9.65 billion in 2022. An annual average growth rate of 8.16 percent is expected for the sector.
