Wine and Spirits

In 2019, Chinese Wine Companies Imported 610 million liters, an amount that is expected continued growth within the next few years. China has sustained an annual growth average of 26%  within the last decade, becoming the largest consumption market. Despite ongoing strong growth of imported wine which grows at a double-digit rate, and accounts for over 40% of still wine volume sold in China, domestic wine also continues to hold a competitive position.

Chinese wineries produce both rice and grape wines, with many grape wines providing competition to imported wines, in fact referring to domestic production, a recent study released on July 2018, suggests that the Chinese spirit Baijiu, beer, and cocktails register the most growth in 201compared to 2016, with some numbers nearly doubling.

The average bottle imported into China is a young red wine oaked for three months. Chile, Australia, and Spain, are three main exporters to China in terms of bulk wines.
